# Decentralized Identifiers

Decentralized identifiers (DIDs) are a new type of identifiers that enables verifiable, self-sovereign digital identity developed by the W3C Decentralized Identifier Working Group, the specifications for which can be found [**here**](https://www.w3.org/TR/did-core/). 

We have currently developed DID methods for the following chains.
